Worries.. part & parcel of motherhood..

Today I took Kunchu to Dr.Loh as I wanted to collect some general flu/fever medicine for him preparing for our NZ trip next Sunday. Kunchu had been urinating frequently since last week and when I mentioned this to the doctor, he advised to do a urine test. He commented it could be due to urinary tract infection or due to diabetes and it is very rare. I almost got a shock when he mentioned about diabetes.. I cannot imagine my baby having diabetes at this age!! Anyway, Dr was telling it is a very rare chance as Kunchu has no weight loss.

When the nurse put bag for collecting sample, Kunchu was not urinating and we waited almost an hour to get enough sample!! He was enjoying walking to and fro in the clinic holding Yuli's hands while we were waiting impatiently to collect his urine sample. Finally it was around 4PM when we reached home and had lunch. I couldn't get my mind off from the 'diabetes thing' and started googling about it. I got more scared while I read more. Even though I was consoling myself as Kunchu don't have any other symptoms other than frequent urination, I was getting more & more upset. Other symptoms included increased thirst & hunger (which he definitely doesn't have!!) and weight loss in babies. Dr had told me that the first screening will be out in few hours and he'll give me a call if anything is wrong. I really couldn't wait anymore and gave a ring to the Dr asking about the result.

I got relieved when the Dr told that there is no glucose in the sample, but he gave me another reason to worry, there are large amount of white blood cells in the sample. Dr told that it indicates some infection either in the urinary tract or could be kidney.. He's waiting for the culture results to be out which will take around 48 hours before starting medication. He doesn't want to start antibiotics before the culture results are out as Kunchu doesn't have fever now.

Now I got something else to google.. worried about the culture results & praying it would be some simple urinary infection or nothing at all..
